Know your metabolism

Reaching your goal has never been clearer. ClearCal works out how many calories you need — then measures your real metabolism from your results, week by week, and keeps your target right.

What a standard calculator tells you.

Everyone with your height, weight and age gets the same number. For many people it’s off by hundreds of calories.

What your body actually burns.

This is your metabolism — measured each week from what you ate and what your weight actually did.

Your calorie target this week.

Updated every week as your body changes — so you keep moving towards your goal at the pace you chose.

Estimate

Start with a better estimate. Your first target comes from the same equation dietitians use. But where most calculators ask one vague question about how active you are, ClearCal asks about your job and your exercise separately — because an office worker who runs every day and a builder who never trains burn very different amounts.

Your answers place you in one of sixteen activity levels. Most calculators offer five.

Measure

Log two numbers a day. It takes seconds. Your weight, and your total calories for the day — never individual meals, never a food database. Then once a week, press check-in and ClearCal works out how many calories your body really burned. Rather not log daily? Fill your week in just before you check in.

Getting this number right matters. When a target is estimated wrong, you end up either eating less than you needed to, or quietly overeating. Because ClearCal measures your real burn and corrects your target every week, you eat as much as your body actually allows — and still make progress.

Correct

Six weeks in, you know your metabolism. Your first target starts from a standard formula’s estimate. Each week you check in, more of that estimate is replaced by what ClearCal has measured from your own body. After about six weeks, it can tell you something no other calculator can: whether your metabolism really runs slow, normal or fast — what your body actually burns, compared with what the formula predicted for you.

This is also why ClearCal works when your metabolism isn’t textbook. A thyroid condition, PCOS, or a medication like a GLP-1 changes what your body burns — and a standard calculator can’t see any of it. ClearCal doesn’t have to guess: it measures what your weight actually does, and corrects your target from real results.

Set for you, not a percentage

Most nutrition apps and calculators give everyone the same percentage-based split. ClearCal calculates your macros from your body weight, your goal and your activity level, using sports nutrition guidelines — so the numbers come out different for every person. They’re part of your free result.

Protein162g

To support muscle and recovery — set from your body weight, goal and training.

Carbs201g

To fuel your energy through the day and your training.

Fat58g

To support hormone health — an amount set for your body.

Example result — yours is calculated from your quiz answers.

Not another tracking app

ClearCal is not a food-logging app. Keep MyFitnessPal. Keep the notebook. We do the job nobody else does — checking, every week, that your calorie target is still right.

And there are no food rules. Nothing is banned, and there’s no diet to follow. You eat the way you already eat — ClearCal makes sure the amount is right.

Inside ClearCal

What happens after the quiz

Any free calculator can hand you a starting number. ClearCal is built for the weeks that follow — this is what it does with yours.

Your week, explainedWK 06

Weight down 0.4 kg — right on the pace you chose. Your body is burning a little less than it did a month ago, which is normal as weight drops, so your target moves down 42 kcal. Nothing to change this week.

A coach’s note, every week

ClearCal tells you what your weight did, why your target moved, and what to do next — in plain words. Your number never changes silently.

Standard formula predicts2,450 kcal
ClearCal measured2,612 kcal
Runs ≈ 6% faster than predicted

Slow, normal or fast — you’ll know

People wonder about their metabolism their whole lives. After about six weeks of your data, ClearCal answers it: what your body actually burns, next to what the formula predicted.

Your weightYour target

Your trends, not one number

Weight trajectory, intake against target, and every change your target has made — so you can see progress even in the weeks the scale is stubborn.

Safe minimum — targets never go below this lineYour target · 1,847 kcal

A safe minimum, built in

Your target never drops below a safe level. And if your weight holds steady at that minimum, ClearCal won’t cut further — it tells you the answer is more activity, not less food.

FAQ

TDEE stands for total daily energy expenditure — the number of calories your body burns in a day, including exercise, your job, and simply being alive. Eat less than it and you lose weight; eat more and you gain. Every calorie target starts with an estimate of your TDEE. ClearCal’s calculator is free and takes about three minutes.

Any calculator’s first estimate — including ours — can be off by 10–20%, because bodies differ more than any formula can capture. The difference with ClearCal is what happens next: each week it compares what you ate with what your weight actually did, and corrects your target. So the error shrinks over time instead of building up. After about six weeks, it can also show you how your metabolism compares with the standard prediction — slower, faster, or spot on.

Not in ClearCal — there’s no meal logging and no food database. You log two numbers a day: your weight, and your total calories for the day. It takes a few seconds. If you count calories in another app or a notebook, keep doing that and carry the day’s total across. Once a week, press check-in and ClearCal recalculates your target.
